As a rule: residence in Switzerland, minimum age of 18, a regular income and, for foreign nationals, a valid residence permit (permit B or C). The decisive factor is the affordability of the monthly instalment.
Always: ID card/passport, rental agreement or mortgage certificate, and health insurance policy and latest premium invoice. Depending on your employment, also payslips (permanent employment: 3, fixed-term/temporary: at least 6); if self-employed, your latest tax assessment; if retired, your pension statement. If married, also your spouse’s documents.
As soon as your documents are complete, the review can start without queries. How long it takes to reach a decision depends on the financing institution; complete information speeds up the process considerably.
The credit limit is usually between CHF 1'000 and CHF 250'000. How much is realistic for you depends on your affordability (income minus fixed costs). The binding terms are set by the financing institution.
